You’ve Worked With Art Studios That Missed the Brief. Here’s What Different Looks Like

Not a queue of tasks and anonymous artists. A dedicated strike team that understands your style guide, your engine, and your deadline — and delivers production-ready assets without a rework spiral.

Style inconsistency. Assets that need three passes. A PM who doesn’t know what a LOD is. These are the standard complaints. Devoted is structured differently — built for the way AAA and mid-size teams actually produce games.

What a Real Art Production Partner Looks Like

  • 3D Character and Environment Art

From concept brief to rigged, engine-ready character — DS handles the full character pipeline. Heroes, enemies, NPCs, creatures. Style-matched to your existing art direction, delivered to your tech specs.

  • Rigging & Animation Support

Character and creature rigging, skinning, and animation integration for game-ready assets. DS rigging teams ship in Maya and Blender to your exact rig spec — delivered on Seekers of Skyveil (Elodie Games) and multiple co-development engagements.

  • Concept Art

Pre-production concepting and ideation, or style development for new titles. 2D concept art for characters, environments, weapons, and key art. Blizzard-level production quality.

  • UI/UX Art Production

  • End-to-End Art Production Services
  • In-Game & Cinematic Lighting

Engine-level lighting for gameplay and cinematics. Shipped on The Outer Worlds 2 (Obsidian) — in-game and cinematic lighting alongside character creation. Unreal Engine specialist team.

  • Tech Art & Integration

Art that’s built to actually run — optimised LODs, texture streaming, material instancing, shader work. Tech artists embedded in your pipeline to bridge art and engineering.

  • Level Art & World Building

Full level art production from blockout to final polish — modular kits, hero assets, props, set dressing, and world-building pipelines. Delivered at Obsidian-level complexity across open-world and linear environments. DS teams work directly in your scene structure in Unreal Engine and Unity.

  • Key Art & Illustrations

Promotional key art, loading screens, splash screens, and 2D illustrations — style-matched to your IP and built for marketing as well as in-game use. Blizzard-quality 2D production, delivered for Overwatch and across multiple titles.

4 Years. 3 Obsidian Games. 0 Missed Milestones.

Devoted co-developed art across Avowed, Grounded 2 and The Outer Worlds 2 — a 4-year engagement with one of the industry’s most demanding art directors. That’s not a portfolio claim. That’s a production track record.

AAA Art Leadership on Every Engagement

Ryan Lastimosa — Studio Art Director, formerly Respawn Entertainment (Apex Legends, Titanfall, Call of Duty 4) — leads art quality across all DS projects. Your assets meet AAA bar because that’s who’s reviewing them.

Custom Teams, Not Available Headcount

DS builds a strike team matched to your specific project needs — engine, genre, style, production stage. You don’t get whoever’s available. You get the right people for the job.

6 Steps From Brief to In-Engine Delivery

Kick-off & Project Alignment

01

We start with a dedicated kick-off meeting to align on project goals, franchise DNA, technical requirements, and production workflow. Art Bible, Vision Brief, Game Design docs, and Project Pillars are reviewed and locked. Communication plan, delivery tools, and management systems are agreed upfront. → Project goals & objectives → Art Bible & Vision Brief review → Comms plan & tool setup

Art Direction & Style Setup

02

Devoted's art direction team establishes the style foundation — reviewing your style guide, setting up technical art standards, and running an alignment pass before a single production asset is submitted. Our in-house Art Directors oversee quality gate at this stage. → Style guide adherence → Technical art direction → Quality bar alignment

Art Production

03

Production runs in parallel tracks: 2D phases (draft with variations → coloring sketches → details polishing) and 3D phases (high-poly sculpting → retopology & texturing → UE level creation & lighting). DS teams work in your engine — Unreal Engine or Unity — inside your actual scene structure. → 2D: Draft → Color → Polish → 3D: Sculpt → Retopo → UE integration → Prop art, modular kits, level dressing

Touch-Base Reviews

04

Regular touch-base meetings keep production on track: overall status updates, feedback exchange, project timeline checks, task and priority alignment, production process evaluation, and quality reviews. No surprises at delivery. No black-box periods. → Status & feedback syncs → Timeline & priority checks → Quality & efficiency reviews

Art QA & Art Director Review

05

Every asset passes through DS's internal Art QA layer before it reaches the client. Devoted Studios Art Directors review against the style guide, technical specs, and production brief. Only approved assets proceed to client review — which means your review cycle is fast and your revision rate is low. → Internal Art QA pass → Art Director style review → Client review — clean handoff

Sprint Demos & Delivery

06

Sprint demos close each production cycle: deliverables demonstrated, results and process reviewed, improvement strategies discussed, and next sprint planned. Final delivery includes fully integrated, build-ready assets — not a file dump. DS is accountable for production outcomes, not just deliverable volume. → Deliverables demo → Retrospective & improvement → Build-ready asset delivery

Game Art Production Services — Common Questions

Devoted Studios provides end-to-end game art production across 3D character creation, environment art, concept art, UI/UX, in-game and cinematic lighting, and tech art. We work across Unreal Engine and Unity on PC, console, and mobile titles. Credits include Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2 (Obsidian Entertainment), Overwatch concept art (Blizzard), and League of Legends art production (Riot Games).

Yes. Devoted covers concept art, 3D modelling, texturing, rigging, lighting, and in-engine integration. We operate as an embedded production partner — assets are built to your tech specs, LOD requirements, and material standards, and delivered directly into your pipeline. Our tech artists bridge art and engineering to prevent the integration overhead that slows most art vendors down.

Devoted co-developed environment art and 3D characters across a 4-year partnership with Obsidian Entertainment spanning Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2 (shipped October 2025). We delivered concept art for Blizzard’s Overwatch, art co-development for Riot Games’ League of Legends (characters and environments), character art and rigging for Elodie Games’ Seekers of Skyveil, and art production and 3D tech art for Steel Wool Studios’ FNAF: Secret of the Mimic.

Devoted’s primary engines for art production are Unreal Engine 5 and Unity. Our environment and character artists have shipped in UE5 across multiple AAA titles — including two Obsidian Entertainment projects. For mobile and cross-platform titles, we work extensively in Unity. DS also supports custom engines and pipelines where required.

Most engagements begin with a scoping call to align on style, technical requirements, production stage, and team size. Devoted Studios then assembles a custom strike team — typically 4–15 artists across the disciplines needed — and onboards directly into your pipeline within 2–4 weeks. We work inside your version control, asset management, and review cadence. There’s no separate handoff phase; the team functions as a production extension of yours.

Style matching is one of DS’s core production competencies. Our Studio Art Director, Ryan Lastimosa (Apex Legends, Titanfall), oversees art direction across all engagements to ensure style consistency and quality gate. We’ve matched style guides for studios including Blizzard, Riot Games, and Obsidian — three of the most exacting art teams in the industry. Every engagement begins with a style alignment phase before production assets are submitted.

Team size scales to your production stage and discipline scope. Focused engagements (one discipline, one phase) typically run 4–8 artists. Full production pipelines covering multiple disciplines run 10–20+ embedded team members over a 6–24 month window. The 4-year Obsidian engagement is an example of a long-term embedded team that scaled up and down across production milestones.

Devoted Studios team works on time-and-materials and milestone-based pricing depending on project structure. Rates are scoped to team composition, discipline mix, and production duration — not published as fixed rates. The fastest path to a proposal is a scoping call: our team maps your art needs to a team structure and returns a proposal within a week. Contact us at devotedstudios.com/#contact-us.
